What new???

Its been quiet for the past few days, but there has also been some exciting developments taking place. We have officially had our first parents of little people support group meeting!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was fantastic even though we were only 8 parents we see it as a fantastic start to something we hope to grow!!! for the moment Leah is the baby of the group and in all the excitement I realised I never took one picture , but not to worry im getting some of the other moms to e-mail me a few pics and I will be sure to post them as soon as I can.

As far as Leah’s progress, well she still has no interest in the potty!! I have been trying but all she says is  “no go potty”, the interesting thing is she cant stand the feel of a wet diaper, so ever so often we will find our little one running around the house missing this crucial piece of moisture capturing clothing. Recently I have discovered the cutest limited edition Huggies diapers which look like little denim shorts, and would you believe she keep these on even if they are close to exploding…

She has also been trying hard to dress herself and finds it awfully funny when her head won’t fit through the neck hole!!

funny baby

Leah has also found the perfect resting spot after a long day of making mummy run around the house, so the arm of the sofa has become just the right spot to catch up on some well deserved shut eye

We have been struggling with some nasty ear infections to be more accurate we have had a total of 5 ear infections since the beginning of this year , Leah’s will be undergoing surgery for her tubes, tonsil’s and adenoids on the 17th of July so I guess I have to be patient, I just wish we could get a sooner date and July is also our peak winter season and having a operation in winter just seems so harsh so hopefully with a little persuasion I can get the doctors to move our date a little closer!! So besides all the medication for pain (ear pain) Leah has created her own way to ease her ear ache…. she fold her ears!!! And I was wondering have any other little ones done the same?? so I find myself  up at night unfolding her ears, because the last thing Leah needs besides the short stature is the have cauliflower ears!!!

  1. Yay for a first POLP meeting!!! Awesome!!! I love all the cute pic’s of Leah, especially the one’s of her in her chillin’ space! Too cute! Cool diapers, I will have to find them for Sonya! Geez, 5 ear infections! That’s tough! We’ll keep you all in our prayers for a smooth surgery and recovery in July! I’ve never seen the folding ears trick before! I don’t think Sonya knows she has ears… even with her ears being pierced she doesn’t bother them! Maybe someone else can chime in on that?!

  2. Hi there, my name is Anthea, I am married with 2 children, and my almost 2 year old daughter Tori has achondroplasia – I found your blog through Tonyas site, hope you dont mind me dropping by. Just wanted to say that I think Leah is adorable. You must be very happy about your support group….I only know 2 other LPs in the area (within about a 2 hour radius), so I am thinking that a group of 8 is fantastic. I am guessing that the lack of LPs around here is why I enjoy finding other parents of LPs out in the blogging world. Nice to meet you…..!

  3. I’m sorry to hear about all the ear infections but really pleased you managed to meet with other POLP. i love the pictures…Leah is just too cute:)

  4. So happy that you have gotten together with other LP’s. It sure helps. Love her cute little diapers. Aidan had his tonsils sized down and his adenoids removed in January…mid winter for us. He pulled through great and it was the best thing for him. Keep us posted.

  5. Yay for your first official POLP support group – so exciting!! 8 parents sounds like a good start! I’m looking forward to seeing some of the pics that the other parents send to you!
Leah is so adorable!! I love the way she rests on the arm of the saofa – so cute! Good luck with the potty training!
I’m sorry to hear about all of the ear infections. Hopefully, you can get her surgery date moved up some. That’s precious the way she folds her ears! Simon likes to cover his ears with his hands and toys, but he hasn’t folded over his ears.

  7. Hi Charmaine

It was by mere co-incidence that i picked up an old YOU magazine and saw the article on Leah, I have a neice that is just like Leah and she is our pride and joy. I have read your blog and most of what Leah does or did my neice does too they are such precious little angels.

  8. Hi,

Very intresting and motivational. Kindly advise where in South Africa are you situated and if you on FB. We would like to make contact with you. All the best and i can vouch that the saying dynamite comes in small packages is so true….your little one will make you proud there is no doubt about as i can see in the videos she is playing towards her strengths. Keep it up and continue being an ambassador for this critical medical condition.
